When a Small Business Should Consider Outsourced IT Support
Not every small business needs a full-time IT employee. That does not mean technology can be left unmanaged.
Look at the workload
If technology problems repeatedly interrupt staff, projects are delayed, or nobody has time to maintain systems, outside support may make sense.
Look at the risk
A business should know who can respond when an important system fails. Depending entirely on one employee or an owner can create a single point of failure.
Support does not have to mean full-time management
A business may need help only with persistent problems, projects, network work, telecommunications, vendor coordination or technology planning.
Choose the relationship that fits
The right arrangement depends on the organization's size, internal skills, systems and risk tolerance.
The goal is not to outsource everything. It is to make sure important technology responsibilities have a capable owner.
